Well, I did that by painting the upper walls a soft Pebble Gray-and the bottom Simply White. But we all know how these projects go. Now that the walls looked brighter-everything else in the room seemed even darker!
Since I was on a limited budget and couldn't afford to buy new furniture-my only choice was to re-purpose what I had.
The first piece of furniture I tackled was a baker's rack that I moved into the dining room from the kitchen, for more storage and display.
You can see how I gave this old piece a facelift here.
Since I received so many wonderful comments and emails in regards to the baker's rack-I felt confident that I was going in the right direction with the room, so my next project was one I'd been wanting to tackle ever since I moved into this home.
The built-in's definitely involved a lot of patience and elbow grease, but in the end, I couldn't be more happy with the way they turned out. Better yet- after I completed this project, hubby was finally starting to see my vision, and jumped on board- instead of grumbling about the rest of the house being in disarray!
He even helped out with a few 'additional projects..........
Of course, after this mirror project took a bit longer to complete because of some minor adjustments I asked for along the way-his 'excitement' level dropped considerably!
So I was on my own again, and there was PLENTY more to do!
Like more art for the walls........
**(To be fair hubby did help out with the reclaimed wood wall sconces we just recently added on either side of the chalkboard.)
The dining room table and chairs.................
And let's not forget the ceiling............Boy was I glad to get rid of those dark beams!!!!
Of course, I didn't get my chandelier (yet), but that's okay. I'm still very happy with the way it all turned out!
Now the room is light and airy-and the neutral color palette makes a perfect back drop..............
For a little POP of color!
My late summer tablescape was a big hit this weekend.
And so was the delicious brunch we enjoyed.
But best of all-hubby and I get to enjoy our bright and cheery dining room every day! And that, my sweet friends, makes all the time and hard work we put into this room-WELL worth it!
