Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well! Mine has been CRAZY busy with work, putting finishing touches on some projects and.....oh ya, I celebrated being another year older.
As you can see-hubby is certainly enjoying his new chalkboard! (Btw-I'm really ONLY 48 yrs old-but hubby hates to admit I'm younger than he is!)
Anyway, hubby isn't the only one who can be creative with a chalkboard.
I have one now too! I know. I know. I'm obsessed with chalkboard paint-but this truly was the perfect solution for the large, VERY empty wall in the dining room!
And the best part is- it didn't cost anything to make!
I found this painting in the attic, when I first moved in. I loved the chunky frame, but unfortunately, the painting was ripped in several places, so I had no use for it.
Until now!
I removed the painting and backboard, and gave the frame a 'white washed' treatment with some leftover paint that I had.
Once the paint dried, I sanded down the edges. To give it a bit of an aged look-I simply brushed on some stain (Minwax- Ebony) let it sit for a bit, and wiped off the excess.
As for the backboard (sorry, I forgot to take a photo)- I simply painted it with one coat of Kilz (letting it dry overnight) and three coats of Rustoleum Chalkboard paint.
Even better- I'm one step closer to finally getting the dining room done!!!!! This weekend I will be finishing the table makeover(I can't wait to show you what I decided to do!) and I'll be shopping for some treasures to fill the space with-when hubby and I go flea marketing on Saturday!
I'll be linking up at these amazing places-so stop on over and get inspired!!!!
