Things are Looking Up in the Dining Room!

The first thing I wanted to change when I started the dining room makeover(months ago), was the dark beams on the ceiling.

I suppose at one time they gave the room a 'rustic' feel, but I'm just not THAT rustic of a gal.
I also wanted to replace this light fixture that I bought four years ago.  Back then I was desperate to change out the HORRIFIC ceiling fan that hung here when I bought the house and this one just happened to be in my budget. (Go figure!)

Of course my dream was to always have a beautiful chandelier take it's place, but thus far, I haven't been able to find one that both fits my budget AND that I'm in love with.

Well, as you can see from the above photo-I finally got around to painting the dark beams.

And thanks to a can of brushed nickle spray paint I had leftover from the kitchen cabinets-I was able to give the light fixture a bit of a face lift too!

The beams and ceiling will need one more coat of paint-but so far I'm pretty happy with how it brightens up the room.

I'm so thrilled to be able to say that I have just ONE more project left to do-and I'll FINALLY be able to reveal the entire dining room makeover! YIPPEE!!

 Have a great Friday!
