Thrifty Tuesday!

Remember all that rain I was talking about this weekend?  If not, let me just say I was a bit...cranky, because I wasn't able to finish some of my outdoor projects.  Well, things got worse on Sunday night.  Much...much...much... WORSE!

Those April showers eventually turned to snow when the temperature dropped, and this is what hubby and I woke up to Monday morning!!!

On top of that, our internet was down all day-so sadly, I wasn't able to post my Monday Money Saving Tips!!!  UGH!  Oh well-never fear, I'm back and boy do I have some AWESOME 'Thrifty' and 'Crafty' things to share with you today!

But, before I get to that-let me show you something I've been procrastinating on-and FINALLY finished!

Ya baby!  I finally have a decoration on our front door!  Geez!  Talk about behind the time!  That's me-but..here's the kicker.  It didn't cost me one penny!  I had everything in boxes down in the basement-so I figured-what the heck?  It's not fancy by any means-but it's done and I didn't not having to spend $$ to do was a BONUS!

Speaking of our basement- as I mentioned in a previous post-hubby and I spent the entire afternoon on Saturday, clearing out our basement and organizing all of our (my) stuff for a rummage sale.  Yesterday, since I couldn't work from home (no internet-UGH), I continued to collect even more items!!

I was on a roll folks!  So much so-that our poor back porch was overflowing with STUFF!!!  Hubby would have been proud.  I say 'would', because, unfortunately, not all that stuff stayed in the rummage sale piles.

Yep, that's right-I got BUSTED when hubby came home from work and saw a 'NEW' pile of stuff (junk to him) back in the house.  Thankfully, I didn't have to explain why.  (I adore my hubby-he knows me so well-and still loves me!)  But, in all honesty-it's not my fault that I held back some items.

No siree!  It's all those folks like you and all the others out their on the internet who are so gosh darn crafty-and can make something amazing-out of just about anything.

Like this pot rack I took down three years ago!  I bought it when I first moved into this house and proudly hung it over the island in the kitchen.  I loved it SO much!  That is until-hubby moved in and kept banging his head on it every time he sat at the island while I cooked.  So, when he asked if it could be taken down before someone (him) poked an eye out on one of the pots, I begrudgingly agreed.

Who knew that I could re-purpose it into something spectacular like this?

Do you see my point?  How could I sell something that could have such...PURPOSE right here in our home? I mean, they don't call me mason jar lady for nothing.  (Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but I do get teased often because I drink all my beverages-excluding coffee-out of a mason jar!)

And speaking of mason jars!  I've HAVE been collecting them for years.  I not only drink out of them-I use them to store items in both the kitchen and the bathroom.

I especially LOVE those in AQUA!

But who knew that you could make them any color you wanted?  I sure didn't! (YES-once again I'm behind the times!)-But,  Jennifer  sure knew-and way back in 2012 when she posted these...

Aren't they just the CUTEST!!!!

I had some leftover paint from my signs-so I thought, 'what the heck?'  This pic was taken after the first coat. I have one more to go, and than I will let them cure over night, before adding the sealer.

During my sorting process in the basement, I stumbled upon some leftover wood that came from my mom's 100 yr old corn crib.  Hubby had stacked it so nice and pretty-to save it for future projects.
I couldn't resist.....

My new sign found a temporary home on the mantel along with some other 'finds', until I decide where exactly it should go.
I also couldn't possibly putting this beauty up for sale.

Especially after I was browsing through one of my NEW favorite blogs- In My Own Style, and realized I could make good use of it by making one of these..

I wish you could see my face right now-because I am smiling from ear to ear!!!  I've been in love with topiary's  since...FOREVER!  The only problem is-I could never afford to buy the real thing.  Well, now I don't need to!  My plan is to use my pretty little pot and some greenery I found, and with Diane's instructions, have my very own topiary to display for Easter!

These are just a few of the ideas I came up with by sorting through STUFF I already had. I have MANY more-but don't worry-I still have plenty of items for the rummage sale.

My point is-(Yes, I really did have one when this post started)-  It's about being 'thrifty'.  If you are thinking about changing up the decor in your home-don't forget about what you already have.  Your own home can be the best store of all-and shopping in it doesn't cost you a thing!

Ignore those nay sayer's that tell you to sell your stuff because it's nothing but junk.  I sure did-and I'm the happiest girl in the Tri- State area right now!

IMAGINE-BELIEVE-DO!!!!

Happy Tuesday!
