Back in February, I posted pic's of our existing dining room. If you missed them-here's a quick peek of the wall and chair rail colors. Boring-Right? Border line-HORRIFIC!!!
Well, the good thing is-there is plenty of inspiration out there on the internet, and I definitely found it when I stumbled upon the blog- Cottage and Vine.
I absolutely fell in LOVE with Rene's newly updated dining room! The bonus was that our dining room is very similar(chair rail-color of floor and size). So, I began an inspiration board. I chose the wall /trim color and wallpaper to line the back of my built in, and set the project aside until spring arrived
Initially, I wasn't planning on starting our dining room makeover until after we returned from our spring vacation in May. But, as hubby says-'I got a burr up my bum!'
Yep-you read that correctly. There I was, sitting at the dining room table last night, working on my Easter dinner menu. Suddenly, I looked at the dark and dreary paint color on the chair rail, and I thought-'this just won't do!' (FYI-in CD terms, that means it has to change-NOW!!!) Which is exactly what happened!
After I had all my supplies together-I painted the first coat of primer on the chair rail! ( I used Behr Drywall Primer-because I've used it before on wood that has never been painted, and it works WONDERS!!)
While that was drying-I got busy on the paneling below, and painted all the cracks and crevices.
I was getting pretty tired by this time-so I quickly rolled on a coat of primer and went to bed. ZZZZ!
This morning I got up early and put a coat of Behr Ultra Pure White (which is what we chose for all of our trim in the entry and living room.
I'll need to do another coat (tonight), but at this point I had to get to work. But, this girl is SO happy that the ugly, dreary paint on the bottom is gone!!!!!
The next step will be the walls.
Behr Contemplation
What do you think so far? Happy Wednesday!
The dining room is looking gorgeous, so far. Given that photo as your inspiration, I think the final look of your dining room would be really gorgeous. Anyway, what are your plans regarding furniture? Make sure you match the furniture with overall look of the room, so that everything will match. All the best on your project! :D
