This morning was spent washing clothes and getting caught up on emails and messages. (Technically-I am still on my mini-vacation-but it just isn't in my genetic make-up to make people wait for a response!) After everything was organized-I decided to take a friend up on her offer to go to a local flea market. (Hey-I'm still on vacation-remember?)
Before I share the treasures I found- let me first state that I usually go to flea markets or rummage sales-with a list of 'wants' in mind. I love 'old' things and I love the challenge of re-imagining them in my home. But, most of all-I love the history behind them. It doesn't matter if they are worn-or tarnished. Nor, does it matter that they 'seem' to have no value or use. For me-it's all in the eye of the beholder!
My first find was this tea pot! I can imagine this on my front porch-filled with spring flowers-or...turning it into a fountain that could sit out on our back deck and bring hours of relaxing enjoyment!!!
I couldn't pass up this antique clothes iron! (Women are AMAZING-especially those who hurled this heavy weight every time they needed to get the wrinkles out of their clothes!) I think our laundry room will be the perfect place to proudly display this treasure!
I love books! ALL books(even if they aren't relevant anymore-like this collection of encyclopedia's!!! These were perfect because the copyright was 1966-the year I was born!!!
I recently started collecting Ball mason jars-(they are great for storing anything from flour to bath salts), and this one definitely caught my eye! I love the lid! Once it's been cleaned up-(don't judge me-I sterilize everything!)-I can imagine this will fit quite well in my pantry-along side several others!
The scrolled legs on this plant stand made me giddy-but it was the bamboo top that had me jumping for joy! I love the mix of old and new that this piece offers! I have yet to decide where it will be displayed-but...I will-soon!
This prize was for hubby!! He has an obsession with chocolate (he's not the only one!)-so I bought this to store all those many open bags of chocolate chips he uses for his ice cream!
I'll be honest- I'm not sure what this last item is. After Googling it- I think it might be a vintage strainer-or a hot plate-(I would love to hear from you if you know!!!)- Whatever it is-I thought it would make great kitchen wall art!
Tomorrow hubby and I are heading to Home depot to make a decision on the paint color for our dining room! A few of my AMAZING readers have emailed or face book messaged me with their vote-but I can always use one more! Stop by my page, and PLEASE help us decide by voting for your choice! If your REALLY in the mood to help a poor girl out- choose a wallpaper texture too! I'll be doing a "DINING ROOM" Giveaway in March-and all votes up until then-will be included!!!
Happy Friday Folks!!
