Thrifty Finds Thursday!

Hello dear friends!  I hope all is well with you this week!  I've been held up in my office for most of it-but I thought I'd pop in today and give you a few updates on projects, some changes happening with the blog, and some great 'thrifty' finds I found this last weekend.

First off-changes with the blog!  Recently, I've seen a lot of my favorite bloggers making the 'big' switch, and although I'm not yet ready to do so, I DO plan on making a few 'minor' changes to the format and design.  Unfortunately, I can't afford to hire a professional right now, so I'll be 'attempting' to do these changes on my own (and with a little help from a friend who is a programmer.)  Hopefully, everything will go off seamlessly, but if not, there may be a time or two that you see some gobbly-goop, and my incompetence will be the reason why.  I'm also planning a new 'Spotlight' post, where I'll be showcasing some very special people, places and events.  I hope to have this launched in August, and it will continue on a monthly basis.  I'd love any and all your feedback, and if you have someone or something you'd like me to showcase, please let me know!

Now, on to the projects.  Yesterday I was visiting with mama L on the phone, when she asked, "Did you ever get that dining room table done?"  I couldn't help but laugh!  The answer is (drum roll please)- YES!  The dining room table is FINALLY complete, and I will be revealing it tomorrow!  I'm hoping to complete one last and final project in the dining room this weekend, and then it will be time for the BIG reveal, next week!
As for the kitchen-well, I did get it painted.  Unfortunately, the kitchen is so darn bright now-that none of the photo's I took turned out!  So, as soon as I can take some more, I'll be sharing them with you.  The next project on the kitchen will be replacing the counter tops and adding a new back splash.  (Hubby and I have yet to agree on either of these, so no time table has been set-YET!)

But even thought the kitchen is far from finished, I've still been able to whip up a few tasty treats there-and I'll be sharing one of those on Saturday, and more next week!

And now, let's get to all those 'THRIFTY" finds!!!

Last weekend, when mom and I went shopping, we decided to make a quick stop at Target, so I could check out their clearance isles!  I found this blue stoneware dish set on sale 50% off-so I scored it for only $24.99!  The teal candle smelled scrumptious, and for 1.99, I just couldn't pass it up!

I haven't had much luck finding treasures at Goodwill lately.  I'm starting to agree with some fellow bloggers that their prices for used items, is getting a 'bit' outrageous.  But, I did find this pretty (new) candle holder at 40% off( 3.49) and a bag of sea shells for $1!

Another quick stop at the Dollar Store, scored me this cute little ceramic bunny for $1.99 (It will have a starring role next year in an Easter vignette)-and this hurricane vase(2.99) will also make a great addition to my dining room decor!

Two weekends ago, hubby and I spent a whole day looking for treasures.  As you can see-a lot of folks were trying desperately to get rid of Christmas items.  Not a problem for someone like me who is a CHRISTMAS fanatic!  The best find of the day had to be the red lantern!  It was brand new (still had the Kohl's tag on it for $49.99)  and  I got it for $6!

But, here is the ULTIMATE score of the week (heck, in my whole life)!

Because I nabbed this entire load of goodies, for FREE!  That's right folks!  I didn't have to pay one penny for any of it!  So, how did I get so lucky?  Well, it all came about when my daughter, Mel, decided it was time to begin the 'nesting' process, and turn their spare bedroom (aka-storage room), into a nursery for our precious angel, due in January. Since there is limited space in their town home, Mel was going to pack up everything they didn't want or need and drop it off at Goodwill, and the items they did want to keep, she was bringing here, to store in our attic. Well, of course that all changed when she showed me some of the items she was 'giving' away.  I've had my eye on that 'shabby chic' comforter for some time-and that metal wall hanging-well, there is a wall in our living room that is the perfect size for such a large piece!

Needless to say-it was MUCH fun shopping Mel's house and finding some unique(and free) treasures.  And mom and Mandy scored a few too!

Well, that's all for now!  Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for the dining room makeover reveal!!!!

Happy Thursday!

Blessings,

Christine
