Speaking of that bathroom project. Well, it quickly became a 'bit' more than just clearing out the clutter. (Hubby says he isn't surprised- since all my 'small' projects generally become 'big' ones, sooner or later.) Well, it isn't THAT big-but I am making some minor changes. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish them because Thursday night Bentley got very sick.
By Friday morning, one side of our poor puppies head had doubled in size and his poor tummy was VERY upset. Thankfully, we have a vet tech in the family. ( BLESS Amanda for not getting angry when I woke her up at the crack of dawn!) Once I told her what was wrong- she quickly rushed over-and checked Mr. Bentley out. It was obvious to her that he was having a severe allergic reaction-but to what-neither of us knew. Our puppy has always had issues with food allergies-(hot spots, itching, etc), but nothing like this!
I knew my poor baby boy was REALLY sick-when, after I told him we were going for a ride in the truck-he merely looked at me with his sad brown eyes and didn't even wag his tail.
So, off to the vet we went.
As usual, Dr. Crickman he was very thorough, and treated Bentley with the utmost care. Even so-I'm not sure Mr. Bentley wouldn't have been so 'nice', had it not been for his special tech friend, Amanda, holding him. She was there through every poke, prod and scrape.
Mr. Bentley is home now-in his favorite spot on the couch. He is better-but still not 100%.
The swelling in his face is almost gone, and is appetite is back.
But he grows tired of mummy taking his picture-so I'll leave him be.
We don't have all the results back yet-but it appears that Mr. Bentley had an allergic reaction to one of two things. His food-or his treats. This both angers and frustrates me-since we have painstakingly searched for 'grain' free food sources-and thought we had found them based on our research. Unfortunately, it took Bentley getting severely ill, for us to find out that the information we were given-may not be true.
I will keep you posted on what we find. According to Dr. Crickman, Mr. Bentley is not the only puppy who suffers from allergies-nor, our we the only parents who believe in the products that are being sold out there- only to find out they are not what they appear. Mr. Bentley is on several medications for now-and though they make him very tired-I am so grateful he is recovering well.
As for the bathroom project-I hope to be finished by early next week. I know I promised pics- so here are a few teasers. I think the wait will be worth it. At least I hope so!
When I went to pick up some bins to organize all the clutter- I found these hand towels and wash cloths. They didn't go with my current color scheme-but I loved them so much. (RE: one of the reasons this project got bigger!)
Once I told hubby what I was doing-(and of course- what I needed him to do) he got busy cutting wood- and made this shelf out of a 1x12 piece of pine he had in the basement. Because he is a genius-he decided to add a back on it. I couldn't have been happier!!! Once he was done- I whitewashed it with some leftover paint.
Today mom stopped over for coffee and she gave me her FAMOUS recipe for Lemon Bars, because she saw the huge bowl of lemons I had on my kitchen island. I'll be sharing that recipe with you all tomorrow!
Wishing you all a great weekend!
