Family Trip to an Organic Goat Farm!

I may have mentioned this before-but, our daughter Mel is a HUGE animal lover.  She has such a big heart, that I seriously believe if she could-she would adopt every animal in need!

Although the animals we were going to see were definitely NOT in need-Mel still couldn't hide her excitement in getting the chance to give one some lovin'.

I swear her fingers were itching to grab one of these adorable billies before our friend, Tad, could even set them down!!!

See!!!  She just couldn't resist giving this adorable billy a smooch!

***Important note-This trip to the goat farm was not only fun-but VERY educational!!!!  Tad (the owner) showed us the entire milking process, as well as, a lesson on genetic!  He also explained the importance of not transferring any bacteria or disease to these beautiful animals!!!  We had no problem with that.  Covering our shoes with plastic booties and sterilizing our hands, was the least we could do, for the chance to see these sweet babies.

We seriously have never seen so many goats in one spot!!!

Who couldn't love this face???

Luck was on our side today!  We had just entered the 'labor' room-and suddenly this precious little kid was born!!!!  We watched with awe-as instinctively the first time mama began licking her baby. Soon, before we knew it- that little girl was already standing on her own.

Michelle and Tad (the owner's) said these little gals/guys- are always hungry!  They weren't very happy when we all we did was take pictures-but didn't offer any goodies!!!

We ALL had a good time- but this was a special moment for hubby and Mel.  (He set the trip up and she will never-ever forget it!)

As we were walking back to the truck- Daisy-the pot belly pig-woke up from her nap-and BOY was she hungry!!!

After we left the farm-hubby took us to an old general store that he used to go to as a child. We enjoyed a bottle of sarsaparilla, and meandered about-looking at all the antiques on display.

I couldn't believe it when I read this sign!!!  The store is 158 years old!!!    Martha (the owner) said she was 98 years old!!!  You would never believe it  if you saw her. What a sharp and very 'spunky' lady she was!!!

I didn't take any pictures of the antiques on the inside-because I just didn't feel comfortable.
But-I did get a snap shot of this VERY cool 7-up sign!!!

And.... the old Pepsi machine that was chained to the store!!!! :)

All in all- it was a great day! We can't thank our friends, Tad and Michelle enough, for letting us come visit their beautiful farm and animals.

Hoping you are all enjoying a wonderful weekend!
